Notes

I taught myself how to program in Python using Codecademy and MIT Open Courseware, and how to build websites using HTML, CSS and JavaScript while constructing a working prototype of a video annotation web app as a collaborative education aid.

Through running and other lifestyle modifications, I recovered from a chronic illness that affected me for about eight years. I went from barely being able to run without pain and suffering daily migraine headaches to completing multiple marathons and am hoping to get my first ultramarathon under my belt this year!

Morphogenesis Lab

Experimenting with mathematical models of tissue morphogenesis. Rho-GTPase activity is coordinated across the tissue surface and regulates/is regulated by cytoskeleton dynamics, cell-cell adhesion, curvature and growth. By modeling multiple coupled Rho-GTPases, the resulting dynamics resemble a self-assembling fabric and are mesmerizing in their complexity. Dynamics are modeled by the Ginzburg-Landau equation and Helfrich-Canham membrane mechanics.

Bookshelf

A collection of books that have had a significant impact on my thinking and worldview. This list is not exhaustive, but it represents a diverse range of genres and topics that I find fascinating and thought-provoking. You might like them.
